Catherine E. Aloisi, Esq., who manages the Elder Law Department at the law firm of Cushing & Dolan, PC. Cathy is experienced in basic estate planning, as well as the use of more sophisticated techniques. She is also knowledgeable in many other areas of elder law, including MassHealth and Medicaid.
Gerald Shaffer Congdon, Esq., who currently directs the Reverse Mortgage Department at Berkshire Bank, a lender with branches in New York, Vermont, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Jerry has been originating reverse mortgages for 12 years. He holds both a Master's Degree in Psychology and an MBA. While in private practice as an attorney, he specialized in elder law and estate planning.
Stephen R. Pepe, Esq., who is a Loan Officer and Outside Account Executive with Reverse Mortgage Funding, LLC. Steve is a former AARP Foundation-certified reverse mortgage counselor, as well as a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Boston Estate Planning Council, and several other affiliations. He is a frequent contributor in print and radio and a CLE panelist on the topic of reverse mortgages.
Both Jerry and Steve will discuss Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECM) and reverse mortgages from a positive viewpoint, also providing a brief history of this product and how it has transformed from a negative alternative to losing one's house, to a positive solution to remaining at home. Cathy will add commentary to the discussion and will also discuss other options available to elders.
